Chapter 92: An Unlikely Hero [FIXED!]
Chapter 92: An Unlikely Hero [FIXED!]
Rachel knew the situation was dire and they needed to get out of there as soon as possible otherwise they wouldn’t make it.
Rachel was smart enough to know that if she left them now, she could certainly survive.
She had no intention of risking Lillian even if it meant saving Jason, Lillian remained her priority.
Rachel knew that things were going to escalate seeing as these new zombies didn’t even need to bite their victims to get them infected.
All they needed was their substance to touch their target and that was it, and the rate at which they mutated was way too fast.
It was a miracle that they hadn’t encountered more, Rachel was almost at her destination, she had to secure the car because if anything, this would also be Bella’s destination.
Unknown to Rachel, Bella was not even capable of thinking rationally yet alone, coming for Rachel.
"Well, hello there," A voice called out behind Rachel and her entire body tensed up the moment she heard this blood-curdling tone.
She looked behind her and it was Ren, she had lost sight of him but the fact that he could locate her was nothing short of amazing.
Rachel tried to attack him but she was abruptly brought to the ground, Ren tackled her and placed her hand behind her back.
She couldn’t move or resist, Ren was too strong and Rachel wasn’t even a fight.
"You’re a new face..." Ren correctly guessed, there was no way he wouldn’t have noticed someone with breasts as big as Rachel’s.
Seeing as he was a boobs man as opposed to ass, Ren cherished breasts because they reminded him of a time when he was innocent.
Ren knew he had to take her in but he also thought, what was the point?
The last person that they took in, they lost track of him so wouldn’t be more sensible to put a bullet through her head right here and now.
That was what Ren intended but fortunately for Rachel, Allison didn’t share the same goal as him.
"Come on Ren! You don’t need to kill her," Allison said but her tone wasn’t authoritative, it sounded more like a suggestion and that was because she knew how Ren was in general.
He rarely listened to the top five, there was no way he would listen to anyone ranked lower than him. Ren placed his sword at the nape of Rachel’s neck.
"I’m not an enemy!" Rachel exclaimed but this didn’t do much to stop Ren as Rachel slowly felt the sharp edge of his blade slowly push into her neck.
"Kill me and you will never find it!" Rachel said this in a last-ditch effort to spare her life.
And it seemed to work because she felt the pressure on her neck lessen.
Ren had retracted it.
"What do you know about it?" Ren asked, and his tone showed not only fear but surprise.
Rachel was speaking out of her ass but she had managed to strike a chord with him.
No one knew what Ren was talking about but it bought Rachel time to think of a plan.
-Jason was pointing a gun right at the man but the growling zombies alerted him that he best save his bullets for other things.
Despite the numerous zombies growling, the man still walked outside like it was nothing.
Jason rushed to the door to see what had become of him but he was out of sight.
It was clear that the zombies didn’t rip him apart but how did he pass through them?
Jason was hoping that his eyes were playing tricks on him but a substance soon came right at him.
Jason quickly blocked it by closing the door but the substance made contact with the door.
This made this house the location that they would swarm, there was no escaping it.
They left through the backdoor, Clementine supported Sam’s weight with Jason lurking behind.
They couldn’t move slow or fast, they had to gather themselves but Jason was moving around with the severed head of Lorenzo.
It was after a beacon but it was one that rtwy could handle.
[Ding!]
[New Quest Received!]
[Escape!]
This was all Chronos said, Jason rolled his eyes because what else was he supposed to do?
Wine and dine with the zombies?
Jason saw that the zombies were heading right to the area despite not having anywhere to go.
"Wait..." Jason called out, and a realisation hit him.
*Where’s Rachel?" Jason questioned.
If they had Rachel it was safe to say that they had Rachel too seeing as they were left together but of course, Jason didn’t know this at the moment.
Clementine kept quiet for everyone’s safety because the last thing they needed was for Sam to throw a tantrum.
The worst was coming to pass and Clementine feared she might not be able to hold Sam back.
Sam took something from his pouch and rolled it in the direction of the zombies.
It was a pepper-laced smoke bomb, the smell was sure to throw off the zombies’ senses making this an effective screen.
They reached for the gates but Jason hated that Rachel was left alone, unlike these two, she had no military training so it was absurd to think she could fend for herself.
Luckily, they didn’t have to do much as they saw Rachel on their way to the gate.
They immediately ducked down to avoid being spotted but judging from things, Rachel found herself in a 2V1 as it a one-on-one battle wasn’t difficult enough.
"Do you want to be the hero even in your condition?" Clementine asked and Jason didn’t offer a verbal response.
Something unprecedented happened, they allowed Rachel to go for whatever reason.
Rachel ran as far as her legs could carry her but they saw Ren point his gun towards her.
It was a sniper with a scope, it was almost like he was hunting prey.
Clementine had other thoughts as she fired her yun first, she intended to kill Ren but all she did was manage to destroy the scope of his rifle.
Glass shards found their way right into his left eye, Ren had been hit indirectly and the way his body dropped, one would think he was killed but he was very okay.
Rachel managed to sneak through the gate as Ren returned fire.
The ammo he used packed the punch, even a bulletproof vest wouldn’t help them.
Jason was getting angry, he knew he needed something, there was one thing he was certain about, if Sam was okay then this man wouldn’t stand a chance.
Jason knew that gunfire would draw zombies, they had to leave here and fighting was pointless seeing as they were now complete.
"Chronos! Do something!" Jason pleaded but Chronos remained silent.
He had given Jason a task and indirectly, Jason was almost done with this quest.
The zombies that swarmed the camp were a product of Jason’s decision to come here.
So indirectly, Jason was responsible for the events that were happening today.
Jason cocked his head because gunfire emerged from a different position.
"What?" Jason muttered, he saw the person who was shooting at Ren, it wasn’t a random person, it was Bella.
Bella looked horrible, Jason was surprised that she was still standing. If she did this to herself then kudos to her willpower because she had something that Jason never had.
"GO!" Bella screamed, the firepower forced Ren into taking cover, he couldn’t return fire.
Ren was trapped and also Allison; Allison was caught in the crossfire.
"Jason! Snap out of it! We need to leave!" Clementine warned and Jason agreed with her even though he knew that leaving her here would all but guarantee her demise.
Bella tossed something towards them and Jason knew it must be important for her to do something such as this.
"Go! I will catch up to you!" Jason responded, he got to the ground and began crawling, he was out of sight and Ren couldn’t see him either.
Clementine kissed her teeth before leaving the camp through the fence, she knew there was nothing she could do as of that moment.
Jason had a strange fixation on Bella and Clementine didn’t understand why he was obsessed with fixing her.
Jason crawled and crawled, realizing that what Bella had thrown to him was a key in an envelope.
The envelope made sure that the key didn’t get lost because if she threw just the key, then the chances of him finding it would be low.
"TAKE THE CAR! RACHEL KNOWS WHERE IT IS! AND JASON, I’M SORRY FOR EVERYTHING!" Bella said; Jason thought about it for a minute but he knew that leaving was the best thing to do.
He noticed that the man they had interacted with earlier was standing in the distance, except he wasn’t intervening, he wanted to see what decision Jason would take.
And Jason made one of the hardest decisions he made in this apocalypse, and that was leaving Bella behind.
