Chapter 425 - 417: Battle in the Rain
Chapter 425 - 417: Battle in the Rain
"Roar, roar."
The black-haired Fierce Beast roared angrily, shaking the entire forest.
The heavy rain poured down, and in such close proximity, illuminated by flashes of lightning, she could clearly see the beast’s condition.
Half of the horn on its forehead had been removed by her, its nose was sunken in, and its entire ugly beast face was a bloody mess.
There was a bloody hole on its back, with fresh blood constantly seeping from the wound.
The wound on its hoof was even worse, with flesh turned outward, bone deep.
Its whole body was matted with blood and water, looking extremely wretched.
Normally, with such severe injuries, any other fierce beast would have been unable to stand, but it still stared fiercely at Cheng Xiaoxiao with blood-red eyes, as if wanting to tear her apart and swallow her whole to vent its anger.
She had never seen such an ugly, powerfully strong fierce beast before. It was without a doubt a Fierce Beast, with its strong combat ability and tough, hard-to-defeat nature, incomparable to ordinary fierce animals.
The battle continued. It seemed that unless this Fierce Beast was completely knocked down, it would not give up. Fortunately, she was also quite stingy by nature.
She gathered her Inner Strength, leapt up to dodge the slashing claws, flipped in the air, and grabbed onto the horn, riding on the beast’s back.
Her old companion appeared in her hand, and before it could react, she viciously thrust it into the beast’s eye.
The Fierce Beast howled in pain, raising its front hoof and its head high, trying to throw Cheng Xiaoxiao off.
She took advantage of the situation, kicking off, her Inner Strength surged, gathering at her palm, and she fiercely struck the end of the dagger, driving it deeply into the beast’s eye socket.
The enraged beast flung her off.
As she spun in mid-air, a long whip appeared in Cheng Xiaoxiao’s hand. She threw it with force, and the whip wrapped around the Fierce Beast’s neck, pulling her back in a flash.
The Soldier’s Shovel flashed in her left hand, and in the moment of contact, she fiercely stabbed it into the beast’s belly.
As she withdrew the shovel, it brought out a foul stench, and blood gushed out, covering the ground beneath.
The Fierce Beast screeched and trembled, struggling for a long while.
Finally, with an unwilling thud, it collapsed.
The rain continued, the forest remained dim. The black-haired Fierce Beast lay on the ground, still twitching occasionally, not wholly dead yet. Its vitality was truly tenacious, but not enough to harm.
Cheng Xiaoxiao waded through the blood-soaked rainwater and walked over, delivering a final stab to the beast’s neck.
With a wave of her hand, the corpse vanished instantly; such a good thing couldn’t be wasted.
Thankfully, she was alone here, so collecting a corpse was nothing to worry about.
In the rainy night, she eventually found a tree hollow and quickly crouched inside.
She treated her wounds and felt a sense of exhaustion.
The battle today brought her many gains.
If she encounters Fierce Beasts again later, she could resolve them on the spot if there aren’t many, or run away if she couldn’t.
The rain pattered on without stopping. Cheng Xiaoxiao didn’t rush to leave, changing into dry clothes, filling her stomach, and taking a brief nap.
Rested, she stretched her body, loosened her muscles, picked a direction, and continued forward.
"Boss, how many days do you think it’ll take for me to get out of here?"
"Did you see that Fierce Beast just now? Do you know what it’s called? Probably not, considering it’s not a creature from your world."
"The road after the rain is even harder to walk. Look at my new shoes and pants, they’re in a pitiful state. Don’t you have that Cleaning Technique? Is it hard to learn? Could you teach me? It would be much simpler when clothes are inconvenient to change in the future."
Cheng Xiaoxiao muttered to herself as she walked, not expecting a response.
In this deep mountain forest, feeling lonely and desolate, she couldn’t help but daydream if she didn’t speak, so she kept mumbling to distract herself.
After walking for about an hour, she was blocked by an abyss in front of her path.
The gap was too wide to cross, so she had to walk along the edge, hoping to find a way around.
At this moment, she heard a warning beep, the sound very familiar.
The sound came from deep in her mind, she suddenly thought of something?
She hastily opened the character panel.
The task map was updated; she opened the map, enlarged the area, and saw a red dot flashing rapidly not far from her.
What’s going on? How could there possibly... Unless some disciples from Tianyuan Sect are in danger?
Even though it was posed as a question, her heart guessed it was very likely.
It seemed she couldn’t leave now.
To return to the Underground City quickly, she must repair the Space Transmitter, and repairing the Space Transmitter relies on the system. Now, with the system’s energy exhausted, completing the task would be the best supplement.
Judging by the frequency and brightness of the red dot’s flashes, perhaps finishing this task would awaken the system.
Cheng Xiaoxiao clenched her fist, resolved. It’s just Fierce Beasts, after all. Didn’t she just kill one earlier?
Besides, saving these people provides immense advantages for returning to Tianyuan City to save the citizens there. That’s quite a large base.
Thinking of this, she resolutely turned and ran towards the mission location.
It seemed those people were still far from her current location, so she had to speed up. If she arrived late and they were all gone, it would be a wasted trip.
Under the mottled light and shadows, a figure dashed swiftly through the forest.
Despite the brambles and rugged shrubs, her rapid flashes were unaffected.
After hastening for most of the day, her keen perception noticed something unusual.
She stopped, listening closely.
A lot of chaotic footsteps, with panicked yells rising one after another.
Further away on the ground, there were slight tremors.
It seemed like a group of people were being chased by something.
Cheng Xiaoxiao quickly climbed up a tree over two meters wide, standing among the lush branches and leaves, seeing the branches ahead swaying, large areas shaking irregularly, with occasional flashes of sword light.
She could also hear fragmented screams.
To get a clearer view of the situation, she took out a telescope to observe carefully.
In the forest, she saw a group of young men and women wearing Tianyuan Sect disciple attire, fleeing in a panic, a chaos spreading in their eyes, they ran without a clear path, like a routed army.
"Run fast, the Demon Dragon is chasing us."
A disciple shouted, accidentally knocked over, falling to the ground.
Seeing him about to be caught by the pursuing Demon Dragon, a masked man grabbed him by the collar and pulled him up as he passed by.
Boom!
In a flash, the wild grass behind was flung up, dirt and rocks splattered, and the spot exploded, something emerged from the ground.
What the hell is this monster?
Through the telescope, the emerging creatures from the ground were visible.
Soon after, other areas also showed the heads of Fierce Beasts popping up one after another.
They were like gigantic worms, at least six or seven meters long, of a mutated kind, with dark reddish bodies, two long tentacles on their heads, and especially peculiar mouths, with two long front teeth that looked extremely sharp.
