Chapter 2281 - 651: Passion and Conspiracy_5
A night passed quickly, and nothing happened. When An Yiqing woke up and came out of the tent, An Zhifeng and the others had already prepared breakfast.
"Miss, good morning." An Zhifeng smiled brightly.
"Good morning." An Yiqing smiled and took the wild vegetable soup. The forest was filled with various wild fruits and vegetables, and they tasted excellent. After a small taste, An Yiqing’s eyes lit up and she nodded repeatedly.
After finishing breakfast, everyone packed up the tents and cooking utensils and continued deeper into the forest. Along the way, they encountered numerous wild animals and two other teams also searching for the deed of land transfer. When enemies met, the tension was palpable, and they parted without even exchanging pleasantries.
After another two days of travel, An Yiqing finally reached the deepest part of the Black Forest.
"Set up camp here; we’ll rest tonight." She looked at the dangerous swamp and crocodiles ahead and decisively stopped.
An Zhifeng and the others immediately began setting up tents and preparing dinner. Although the past few days were exhausting, they hadn’t gone hungry. On their journey, they had killed many wild beasts and eaten plenty of roasted meat. These creatures were as close to nature as possible, with meat that was tender and flavorful, satisfying An Yiqing so much that she even considered returning annually just to feast.
The old man with white hair and several young people continued persistently following An Yiqing, while consuming their exorbitantly priced three meals a day. Though An Yiqing had resolved the dangers they encountered, they still looked unwell. Having lived in comfort and luxury for years, they couldn’t adapt to these terrible conditions. Every day, they were bitten by mosquitoes to the point of breaking down. Moreover, they saw many humans who had been killed along the way, some reduced to skeletons, others decomposed so badly that attracted swarms of insects and beasts—causing them to vomit repeatedly. Nightmares consistently disturbed their sleep.
As they neared their destination, the old man and several young people looked at An Yiqing with increasingly complex emotions. They owed their lives to An Yiqing, and had witnessed her group’s formidable skills. But the temptation of the deed of land transfer was too great, and they had to find a way to get it.
As usual, after dinner, everyone retired to their tents for a quiet sleep. Tonight, Xiao Hei and Fatty Mao Er took watch, sitting on small stools—one looking at the sky, the other the ground.
After some time, the statue-like Xiao Hei suddenly furrowed his brow.
"What’s that sound?"
Fatty Mao Er froze and held his breath, listening intently. A rustling sound echoed in his ears, indicating there were quite a few of them.
"I’ll take a look." Feeling something was off, Fatty Mao Er transformed into a streak of fiery red light and disappeared into the night.
Xiao Hei stood in front of the tent, his young face steady and calm. An inexplicable sense of danger rose in his heart, as if some threat was gradually spreading toward them.
Right then, a flash of red light streaked through the pitch-black night, and Fatty Mao Er landed steadily on the ground.
"Damn! It’s all snakes! There must be at least several hundred! Quickly alert the boss!"
As soon as he finished speaking, An Yiqing emerged from the tent, and everyone else followed, their faces free of sleepiness.
"Mao Mao, specific situation." An Yiqing said gravely.
"Fifteen hundred meters away, the snake swarm is rapidly closing in." Understanding the urgency, Fatty Mao Er refrained from joking.
An Yiqing pressed her red lips tightly together and activated the Clairvoyant Eye to look into the distance. In the inky night, on the ground and tree trunks, were densely packed colorful venomous snakes. They flicked their crimson tongues as they moved swiftly towards them. A rough sweep revealed at least several hundred.
"Pack your things, prepare for battle!" With a tender shout, the Qingying Sword appeared instantly, its blade glinting coldly in the darkness.
An Zhifeng and the others quickly packed up. Drawing sharp daggers and Tri-edge Military Spikes from their waists, they surrounded An Yiqing, eyes filled with unusual excitement and an intense fighting spirit.
Disturbed by the voices of An Yiqing and her group, the old man and the others woke up, hearing things muddledly. However, they knew danger was approaching. Trembling with fear, they moved step by step towards An Zhifeng and the others, while several brawny men drew their guns and daggers, nervously scanning the surroundings.
