Chapter 406 - 55: Allied Forces Besiege Barbaric Star, A Considerable Number of Ancient Life
The Star Road opened, and fleets streamed endlessly into the space around Barbaric Star.
Throughout the entire process, the coalition’s fleet met with no resistance.
And so, in this relaxed atmosphere...
...a massive number of fleets soon blanketed the entire outer Star Realm of the Barbaric Planet.
At the same time, swarms of drones, reconnaissance satellites, and other similar devices were deployed into the Star Realm’s orbit around Barbaric Star.
After everything was in place, the Storm Goddess, Gwyneth, raised an eyebrow.
"There isn’t a single Deity in this world’s Star Realm?"
Among the assembled Deities, their leader, the Giant Demon Main God Moridun, chuckled upon hearing her words.
"If you’re talking about non-Ancient Deities, then this world shouldn’t have any."
"And the Ancient Deities would certainly never be willing to coexist with the Mana Will. After all, they can break through to the Divine Tier just by developing naturally. Why would they be like us non-Ancient beings, who need to borrow the power of the Mana Will to achieve Ascension to Divinity?"
"Therefore, the Mana Will in this world’s Star Realm is naturally not controlled by any being."
"So, it’s not surprising that no Deities have appeared to obstruct our arrival."
"Otherwise, how could this expedition have gone so smoothly?"
At this, Moridun’s tone shifted as he added:
"However, our arrival has caused such a huge disturbance. If any of the Ancient Deities sleeping beneath this planet have keen enough senses, they have likely already detected us."
"Of course, more than that, I’m actually worried about another, more direct threat."
The Storm Goddess Gwyneth’s thoughts raced for a moment. She looked at Moridun and said:
"Are you worried about the Ancient God of the Feathered Insect Race mentioned in the intel—the one who may have already left the planet and is now lurking in the nearby Star Sea?"
Moridun nodded slightly.
"Precisely. However, I haven’t detected any activity in the nearby Star Sea so far."
"It seems the Feathered Insect God is either some distance away, or it’s using an ability to hide in a region we can neither see nor sense."
"What are your thoughts, my lady?"
The Storm Goddess scanned the Star Sea and gazed down upon Barbaric Star.
After only a moment, she replied:
"I haven’t detected any anomalies either."
"I suspect the Feathered Insect God is either a considerable distance from Barbaric Star or is using some kind of stealth ability to conceal itself."
"Of course, there’s another possibility: the Feathered Insect God is currently in the Subspace near Barbaric Star."
"The spatial turbulence and storms within Subspace are fraught with risk for us, but they aren’t necessarily a major threat to an Ancient God."
’Subspace?’
Moridun frowned.
If you could picture the Cosmos as a sheet of paper.
Then one side would be the Material Interface, and the other would be Subspace.
In essence, Subspace is a chaotic dimension completely devoid of Order.
This dimension is filled with spatial turbulence and storms.
The energy levels within are incomparably immense. An ordinary Deity of Weak Divine Power wouldn’t last long at all after entering.
Even Deities of Powerful Divine Power or Main Gods, who could resist the damage from Subspace storms for a considerable time, would be completely unable to withstand the spatial turbulence that could erupt at any moment.
Spatial turbulence doesn’t just inflict external damage from energy storms. Its greatest danger is its ability to suddenly fling a Deity to a phase coordinate corresponding to an entirely different Material Interface.
As a result, by the time a Deity struggles free from Subspace and re-emerges into a Material Interface, they could find themselves, in an instant, tens of millions of light-years away.
At such a terrifying distance, even if the Deity possesses a Divine Kingdom, they would be utterly unable to establish a tangible connection with their Divine Kingdom in their original world.
In that case, the Deity must either find a way back on their own or resort to suicide to be resurrected within their Divine Kingdom and return.
Therefore...
...the Exploration Department of the Giant Demon Empire’s Divine Council Hall actually relies on this very mechanism of Subspace turbulence in its constant search for other Life Planets.
A Deity enters Subspace.
They are swept by the turbulence into the Material Interface of a different Cosmos.
Upon finding a Life Planet, they plant a Spiritual marker as an anchor and then commit suicide to return.
While this method is highly efficient, the toll it takes is also quite significant.
After all, each death consumes a massive amount of a Deity’s Spiritual strength. Even if they can be resurrected in their Divine Kingdom, they still require a period of recuperation.
Furthermore, if a Deity dies too many times in a short period, even their Divine Kingdom may not be able to resurrect them quickly.
So, the Deities in the Giant Demon Empire’s Exploration Department lead a grueling existence.
Fortunately, the Giant Demon Empire compensates the Exploration Department generously. There is an ample supply of resources like Divine Power Crystals. After completing a single exploration, each Deity is also granted a vacation of nearly a hundred years and given access to the cultivation insights on Divinity shared by the Empire’s other high-ranking Deities. Otherwise, no Deity would ever be willing to undertake such explorations.
Even if a Deity can be resurrected, and even with the compensation, dying is hardly a pleasant experience.
Therefore, under normal circumstances, most Deities harbor a deep-seated aversion to exploring Subspace.
As for the principle behind the Star Gate Star Road, it utilizes the Space Law of the Material Interface to travel through the rifts between Subspace and the Material Interface.
Thus, once a Star Gate Star Road is established, it is safe.
But Subspace has no such thing as safety or fixed routes.
After all, within Subspace, all the Laws of the Material Interface can be inverted or rendered completely useless.
Only the Ancient Deities, with the power of their terrifying physical forms, can withstand the storms of Subspace unharmed.
