It didn’t take long for the old physician to come over to the mansion.
As he walked along the corridors, he lowered his head with a frown.
Did the mistress take the prescription that I’ve given? He thought.
The old physician had mistaken that this visit was due to complications with Yue Xin’s pregnancy.
His mind raced with all the different possibilities until he reached Lin Xuan Qi’s room.
"Master Lin and Mistress Xue Cong are inside waiting for you." Xiu said and gestured for him to enter the room.
The old physician gave her a nod and pushed the doors open.
"Master Lin, is Mistress Yue Xin not feeling well?" He asked when he saw Lin Xuan Qi.
But Lin Xuan Qi shook his head at him and said, "Yue Xin is doing fine thanks to your prescription.
"I need you to see if Xue Cong is pregnant too."
His words made the old physician feel a sense of relief.
It would be double happiness for Lin Xuan Qi if Xue Cong was indeed pregnant.
He would rather be dealing with something auspicious like this than the alternative scenario.
"Place your hand onto the table with your palm facing up." The old physician said, and Xue Cong did what she was told.
The old physician sat next to her, placed the wooden box he had with him to the side, and felt for her pulse.
Then, there was silence for a few moments with the old physician’s eyes closed.
Lin Xuan Qi stood by the side and waited patiently.
A part of him felt that the system had taken some of the surprise and joy out of him, when it let him be the first and only person to know.
All he could do now was to share the joy and happiness with Xue Cong when the old physician announced the result.
It didn’t take too long and happened in the next moment.
"Congratulations, Master Lin and Mistress Xue Cong." The old physician said while he stood up and cupped his hands at Lin Xuan Qi and Xue Cong.
"I’ve never seen someone with such luck in my years of being a physician." He said with a smile.
"Thank you so much for coming all the way here." Lin Xuan Qi thanked the old physician and handed him a small piece of silver.
"That’s too much..."
"Take it please, I will be bothering you much more frequently from now on." Lin Xuan Qi pushed the piece of silver towards him and the old physician reluctantly kept it.
"Then, I shall come back every month to monitor the progress of Mistress Xue Cong and Yue Xin."
"That would be great." Lin Xuan Qi exclaimed, and the old physician went on to write a prescription to stabilize the child for her.
Lin Xuan Qi held onto Xue Cong’s hand and said, "Congrats, Mistress Xue Cong, you are going to be a mother soon."
Xue Cong frowned at him and shook her head, "Stop teasing me, Master Lin, you are going to be a father soon."
"Yes, indeed I am." Lin Xuan Qi replied with a huge smile.
"And yes, indeed I am too." Xue Cong copied him and replied.
She had expected to be much more animated and exuberant when she heard the good news, but strangely, she was feeling relatively calm and serene inside.
Maybe the reality hasn’t settled in for her. She thought.

The old physician gave out a fake cough and interjected, "Pardon me, here is the prescription for Mistress Xue Cong."

And when she saw the smile on Xue Cong’s face, she knew that it was good news.
Finally, it had come true for Mistress Xue Cong.
After such a long time seeing Mistress Xue Cong longing for a child, Xiu also felt the joy of it happening.
Her prayers to the deities must have worked and she would find time to offer sacrifices to the deities for granting her wish. Xiu thought as she led the old physician back to his medicine hall.
And after they left, there was only Lin Xuan Qi and Xue Cong left in the room.
He held onto her hand and chatted with her throughout the night.
It was mostly about the future for them with their child and how things would change for the better.
They chatted until Xue Cong was tired and they rested for the night with a smile on their faces.
As Lin Xuan Qi lay on the bed, he began to plan for the things that needed to be done.

When Lin Xuan Qi woke up, Xue Cong was gone from his side.
She had already started the day dealing with the matters in the mansion.
He washed up, changed into a new set of clothes afterwards, and joined everyone else at the dining hall for breakfast.
Xue Cong gave him a glance and lowered her head again.
He shook his head and thought that it must have been hard on her to keep mum about it.
But he went along with it and pretended that nothing had happened.
She would have to inform Mei Jiao soon anyway.
