Chapter 763 - 757: Taking the Initiative (3)
Seeing this, Tiana Thorne suddenly felt a dull pain in her chest, not too heavy nor too light. For some reason, from Jonas Jarvis and Pearl Jarvis’s interaction, she saw a kind of gentle tranquility of the passing years.
Suddenly, she didn’t want to believe that her previous assumptions were true.
In fact, she somewhat didn’t want to disturb their peace.
Rouge Jarvis pursed her lips and sat down by her bed: "Pearl, why have you caught a cold again?"
She raised her eyes and reached out to hold her hand: "Sister, you haven’t come for several days."
Only then did Tiana Thorne see her aunt clearly. Her eyes, which seemed to smile or not, were affectionate, with a touch of melancholy between her brows. Illness enveloped her slender figure. In quietness, she was like a beautiful flower reflected in water; in movement, she seemed like a fragile willow swaying in the wind.
Suddenly, she recalled a phrase.
A heart with an extra chamber compared to others, a beauty suffering from illness three times beyond ordinary.
It perfectly described her aunt.
She and her mother were biological sisters, so they looked somewhat alike, but had completely different temperaments.
Perhaps due to years of poor health, her aunt’s delicate face bore a touch of weakness that stirred a protective instinct in Tiana as a woman.
Noticing Tiana Thorne studying her, she gently raised her gaze: "Who is this?"
Rouge Jarvis curved her lips, her eyes showing no unusual signs, as she introduced: "Her name is Tiana Thorne, a popular star in the entertainment industry. My brother-in-law wants to find a celebrity to endorse his cosmetic product, and since Tiana and I are friends across generations, I thought to introduce her."
Pearl Jarvis felt no suspicion, looking at the man who had been silent all along: "Jonas, go ahead with your work. Please don’t neglect Miss Thorne."
"Okay."
He got up: "Let’s talk in the study."
Rouge Jarvis looked at her sister, gently patting her hand: "Pearl, I’ll come back to see you in a while."
"Okay."
After Pearl Jarvis nodded, she looked at Tiana Thorne again, smiling softly: "Miss Thorne, I’m not feeling well, please forgive me."
Looking at her, perhaps due to the bond of blood, Tiana felt both love and compassion for this woman, and finally understood why her mother always emphasized not to tell her about this matter.
She gently nodded: "Mrs. Jarvis, you’re too kind."
Afterward, May Sloane pushed Tiana Thorne out of the room.
The four of them arrived at Jonas Jarvis’s study.
Tiana Thorne habitually observed, her gaze falling on his desk, where there were two photo frames.
One was of him and Pearl Jarvis together, the other was a photo of him, Pearl Jarvis, and Joshua Jarvis.
From a man’s study, one can see if he truly loves his wife.
It could be said that he genuinely loves this family.
The four of them sat down on the sofa.
From entering the room until now, Jonas Jarvis remained particularly calm, unperturbed, as he asked: "Would you like a drink?"
Rouge Jarvis shook her head, the glint in her beautiful fox-like eyes cold and sharp: "No need, let’s sit down."
He sat down, the four not far apart, and the atmosphere gradually became solemn.
Rouge Jarvis held Tiana Thorne’s hand, raised her gaze, her voice cold and heavy as she asked: "Jonas, who is this, you should know, right?"
Jonas Jarvis raised his gaze, looking at her face that bore seven-tenths resemblance to Rouge Jarvis’s, and nodded slowly.
He knew some long-sealed secrets would eventually become known to all, no longer remaining secrets.
The other hand of Rouge Jarvis clenched into a fist. If it weren’t for his gentle demeanor towards Pearl, and his seemingly genuine gaze, she would have wished to give him a resounding slap.
"Speak, what have you done all these years?"
